Martorell, – A total of 21 drivers were presented with the new SEAT Leon Cup
Racer today at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain, ahead of the start of the 2014 SEAT Leon
Eurocup season, which kicks-off next week at the legendary Nürburgring circuit in Germany.
During the official test day, all teams got to grips with the SEAT Leon Cup Racer before
embarking on a six-event European calendar that includes visits to prestigious Formula One
circuits, such as Silverstone in the UK, Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps and Italy’s Autodromo di
FIA Vice-President Mr. Carlos Gracia and the President of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Mr.
Vicenç Aguilera, were also present at the event, showing their support to SEAT Sport’s new
international series. Another highlight of the day was the attendance of former Formula One
driver Jacky Ickx, who completed several laps of the Barcelona circuit at the wheel of the brand
new SEAT Leon Cup Racer.
The SEAT Leon Cup Racer will be driven by an international grid of drivers spanning 11 different
nationalities: an Andorran, an Austrian, a Dane, two French, three Hungarians, three Italians, a
Monegasque, a Norwegian, two Portuguese, five Spaniards and a Swiss, including three female
drivers and two under eighteen-year-olds.
The 2014 SEAT Leon Eurocup driver line-up includes the winner of the 2012 European Touring
Car Cup (ETCC), Norwegian Stian Paulsen, the 2010 French Supercopa winner, Julien Briché, and
the 2010 SEAT Leon Eurocup Champion, Hungarian driver Gábor Wéber.

it’s great to finally see the teams driving the new SEAT Leon Cup Racer together for the first

delighted to provide track action once again, as well as a new car – the SEAT Leon Cup Racer – that is pure SEAT: emotion and performance all in one. I’m sure we will deliver driving fun race
after race, and we can’t wait to get started!”
Dr. Matthias Rabe, SEAT’s Vice-President for Research and Development, also added: “SEAT has
more than 40 years of motorsport history and with the 2014 SEAT Leon Eurocup we are writing a
new chapter in customer racing. The Cup Racer not only looks stunning, it’s also incredibly
powerful and really fast. I look forward to see it racing at all these legendary circuits.”
