THE NEW LEON IS VOTED BEST CAR OF 2013 BY UNIDAD EDITORIAL
Martorell, 14/06/2013. – The new Leon has been distinguished as the best car of 2013 by a panel of motoring experts from Unidad Editorial after analysing the models that have been launched in the last 12 months. To award this prestigious distinction, the jury evaluated the attractive design and value-for-money of SEAT’s compact car as well as its excellent dynamic qualities. The Spanish brand is enormously pleased with the award, which demonstrates the great popularity of the new Leon among the public and the press.
At a ceremony held this morning on the occasion of the Telva Motor awards at the headquarters of the Unidad Editorial group, the SEAT representation was headed by general manager Mikel Palomera, who accepted the award. Mikel Palomera pointed out that “the Leon is a model that demonstrates SEAT’s skill for designing, developing and producing cars. As a model that is 100% Spanish, it proudly carries the ‘brand Spain’ seal in every country where it is sold. For this reason, I am overjoyed that a distinction by the Spanish press has finally been awarded to a home-grown model and, in the case of the Leon, a model produced in its first design series”.
From January to May 2013, the new Leon was the best-selling model in its segment and seventh on the leaderboard in Spain, after a few short months on the market. Furthermore, the new Leon offer is now even more enticing thanks to the added benefit of the new DOUBLE PIVE SEAT Plan for efficient cars, set up by the Spanish brand. With this appealing programme the Leon is available with a discount of €4,210 if customers finance their purchase through SEAT credit and trade in a used vehicle that is more than ten years old.
The new Leon range is available with two body styles – the five-door and the SC; five petrol engines: the 1.2 TSI with 86 hp and 105 hp (manual and DSG); the 1.4 TSI with 122 and 140 hp and the 180 hp manual and DSG 1.8 TSI, as well as four common rail Diesel engines: the 1.6 TDI with 90 and 105 hp (manual and DSG) and the powerful 150 hp (manual and DSG) and 184 hp 2.0 TDI CR units. It is worth mentioning that nearly all the engines include the Start/Stop system and the energy regeneration function as standard, which contribute decisively to reducing fuel consumption and emissions. At the end of this year, the Leon range will be extended with the arrival of the ST family estate version.
