Hi,
Despite the hours I spend reading Honest John’s ramblings, I have just found mention of VAG PD170 injector problems.
My 2007 Seat Leon 1.9 TDi Sport is (like me) getting rather past it having reached up to recently 203,000 trouble free miles.
A couple of months ago, accelerating out of a junction there was an explosion of white smoke and a few moments of rough running although I kept going until I reached my local friendly independent workshop who diagnosed turbo failure. They fitted a reconditioned unit, told me that none of the glow-plugs worked and I was lucky there did’nt seem to be any further engine damage.
£650 lighter in wallet I’ve got the car back and although it starts / runs pretty much as before there is a definite rough patch around 1200 rpm / 30mph which they put down to a failed injector(s). The technician seemed to suggest to start trying to replace them would be to open a can of worms and would likeley cost £1,000+ on a car he estimates to be worth £1,500.
Does anybody think I might have recourse to VAG to recover the cost of this known fault?
(Sorry its taken so long to get to the point!)
