Hi I have just purchased a early 2014 Leon ST FR 184. I love the car but mine seems to be quite noise when driving along. It does sound like road noise coming through into the car. It has continental tyres on the back so don’t think it’s because of cheap tyres. Does anyone else have this problem? I used to have a Ford Mondeo which was quite load on the road but this seems much loader. Any ideas would be really arrivistes.

Had a Leon ST FR 150 from new. Road noise so bad I wanted to change the car in the first week but the dealer said it was normal and if I didn’t like the noise I shouldn’t have bought a FR. (Not the best customer service I’ve had!) It does depend heavily on the road surface. On some it’s silent and on others conversation is impossible and we can’t even hear the radio. Great car, love it but the noise….
It’s slightly better with a pound or so let out of the tyre pressures, but no more.

never suffered from this on my ST FR184, and I’m picky about noise, but I have heard of people putting additional layer of soundproofing under the boot false floor to absorb it on theirs. Conti’s aren’t always quiet, but it’s an expensive experiment to replace tyres on a whim. But the original Contis on my previous E-class estate were much noisier than the Michelin HP Primacy I replaced them with.
This seems a bit of a bodge, but it might work. Got any old carpet you could use as insulation?
