    Hi.

I am thinking of buying a seat leon, i am abit confused as to how many miles is ‘too many’ for a 1.9 TDI 110.

I have money but when i see cheaper ones with more mileage on it makes you think. if youve got FSH, cambelt changes etc all up to date what is too many miles?

For example i have seen one with 170k, 2001, fsh, cambelt etc etc.

People tell me these are bullet proof and ‘run forever’ but just need some advice i guess? what to check etc when you go and view one with high mileage.

    Cheers,
    Andy.

I was looking for a PD engined (130-150bhp) mk4 golf before i bought my Leon and did alot of research into what can go wrong and i found anything over £120k, look out for clutch/flywheel, gearbox and turbo, those are the big jobs.

if its got FSH showing annual oil changes (decent oil as well) it will run forever, if its done motorway miles and hardly used the clutch/gearbox then you will go further without changing them. If its been tootling to the newsagents and back every sunday it won’t be any good or thrashed by a boy racer.

Its always a gamble buying high mileage cars though, thats why they are cheaper.
