Exactly. I don’t think people are prepared for this poor weather or know how to cope with it. As I said, I’ll slow down for the big puddles and avoid them if possible, but not stop, wait for it to dry up, then carry on, that really takes the biscuit!
Icey weather is just the same, as long as you drive steady and slow using the gears etc,then really there won’t be many problems. I saw someone once driving along the A31 (Hogs Back) when it was icey, first thing I noticed was them driving on the packed down snow already instead of the fresh stuff, then brake and went completely sideways, which just made m ease off the throttle, knock it down a gear and slow down towards them. Did have to laugh though as I bet it was a brown trouser moment!
