MemberWhats involved in removing the EGR from a 2007 tdi (140)
is it just a case of blanking off the egr pipe and blocking the vacuum pipe?

ModeratorHave a look at my thread ive just deleted my EGR on my PD170! its almost identical except yours is vacuum and mines electronic however the kit is identical
All supplied by Darkside Developments

Memberah right, how much was the kit?
i was under the impression you could just blank off that pipe coming in on RHS and then disable the acutator by cutting off and blocking the vacuum hose?
didnt realise you needed a new unit completely, or is that just so the internal parts of actuator are removed too?

ModeratorEasiest way is to just do the kit, Costs about £70 but then your going to have a warning light on the dash so will need that mapped out (or just drive around with it on like i do)

Memberso had a go at blanking this the other day – it threw the warning light on (and went into limp for a few mins too strangely)
so i unblanked it, but not theres air rushing from it (the join of the pipes) and it gives a woosh noise, so took it off again and put instant gasket around it as well as the original, still wooshes (just not as much), i dont get why its still leaking.
what have i buggered up lol, gasket is still in gd nick and i doubt i wrecked either of the pipes as they are pretty damn solid

Memberwill have to post pics later, but basicaly i replaced the gasket with a solid one, as ive done with many of my old cars
then once EML came on, i undid it, went back to the standard setup – which is just leaking

Memberkit arrived today
andrew did you fit yours yourself? im wanting to know if im best doing this and getting it mapped straigh after, or am i ok to fit on sat (when i have time) and remap on mon/tues? will it still drive ok, or be useless
also the instructions say i have to cut the metal circle off the top of the main flexible pipe, is this right?

ModeratorYouve bought the wrong one what you want is the Roadsport one and what you have bough is the Motorsport one!
Difference is, Motorsport one replaces the ASV (Anti Shudder Valve) aswell so when you come to turn car off the engine will shudder until it stops
Ive been driving around with my Roadsport one without having it mapped out for about 5 weeks now and no problems at all! ive just refitted mine today as i hadn’t tightend up the bolts tight enough so it was leaking from the back, it is a right pain to fit though
