I’m 20 years old and need a hatchback with a powerful diesel with the idea being that I will be able to pull a small trailer with a superkart on it. My absolute maximum budget is £4000 and I’ve found some decent looking 1.9 TDI Cupra or FR models for that price. Only thing is the mileage. I know that the engines are good and that if looked after a diesel will run forever. So basically, what should I look out for on an 03-05 Leon with 80,000+ miles on the clock apart from the obligatory FSH? Any parts in particular that should have been changed by this point?

Any help or tips would be much appreciated!

Check the Turbo for over-run maybe (listen for a whirring after the engine is switched off), could be a sign of the bearing going.
    Smoke on start up
Generally, the 1.9TDi is a pretty sound engine.
