Hopefully tmro i will be buying my fisrt car a MK1 1.6 16V Leon on a 51 plate. Dose anybody know of any common faults with this model or problems they have had with there own Leon. Any advise will be gratefully taken on board.

Hope there is some good info to come out of you guys cos i dont wanna walk into this and buy a car that has all the normall issues :unsure: .

Hope to here from anyone soon as pos rele as i said i hopefully if all goes well will be buying tmro.

The usual body work etc.

– Cambelt? Does it need doing?

– Electrics all working?

– Anything rattling?

– Lights working?

– Steering correct?

– Clutch slipping?

– Speakers working?

– Overheating?

– Brake discs and pads okay?

– Tyre wear even? (It’s normal for the front to have a bit more wear as these are the driving tyres)

– Fluids all present and correct? (Oil, water, washer jets etc)

– Oil cap has milky white susbstance on it? (Head gasket problem if so)

Try and gauge as much info out of the seller as possible! Where kept etc!

Cheers for the fast response. When on acouple of other sites to and found http://www.usedcarexpert.co.uk very helpfull on highlighting to model spesfic problems.
😀 The Car has been bought and i am very pleased with my purchase 😀 . Afew niggly cosmetic bits on the car that i will want to get sorted but nothing major.
Ill be putting soon photos up shortly so you can see what i got.
No dought ill be needing advise and opions on a range of things to do with the leon.

Just bits like rear ashtray broke,
afew slight scratchs hopeing will polish out,
cracked lower front grille and scuffed OSF front bumper which is slightly notice in the first pic i put up.
Just small things like that which all add up.

Those are small things really that can be sorted out for little money. :thumbsup:

Scuffs and scratches will come out with a bit of elbow greese and a decent clay/detailer/polish. Other bits can be replaced at a minimal cost.
