    Hi,

    I own a 57plate 1.9tdi leon reference 105bhp, and was wondering if anyone could offer advice on when the cam belt is due for changing as I have had two conflicting messages from local seat dealers.

    One dealer is sayin that the cam belt should be changed with the 4year service or at 80k miles along with the 4year service (the cars only covered 36k) at a cost of £316.56 plus the service.

    The more local dealer is saying that the cam belt is not due until 6years or 60,000 miles

    Im under the impression its 4 Years, Certainly aint 6 years

    The Mileage is abit of a grey area though

    Hi guys,

    just joined so this is my first post! I’ve got 2nd-hand 2010 1.4 TSI and it’s done just over 48k (ex-rental) so is due a cam/timing belt change pretty soon. Just wondered if anyone knew if that would be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty (which runs out next March)?

    Nah Camblet isnt covered by warranty to be replaced on any car, if it breaks then yes it might be covered but no company will replace a cambelt under warranty simply because it needs replacing

    Hi again!

    I have just spoken to someone from a garage who reckons that the 1.4 tsi has a timing chain rather than a belt, which would only need replacing around the 120k mark – can anyone confirm this as I’m struggling to find out!

    If the oil is changed frequently enough, timing chains shouldn’t need to be changed at all, that’s sort of the point of them.
