MemberHi all, any body got any ideas my central locking been playing up for a while now, the key fob packed up even after changing battery and now key has stopped working. The problem is that now the alarm is on and nothing turns it off. I need some help. I thought about disconnecting the wiring at the door lock so as that i could lock the doors without turning the alarm on and that would be ok but i need to turn the alarm off first.
Any body got any ideas or had problems with the central locking in the past.
Many thanks, Rick.April 30, 2010 at 3:34 pm #4242Seat Adam
MemberIs the central locking working? Or is it just the car unlocks but doesn’t turn the alarm off? I know fuse 38 is the central locking fuse if that has blown the central locking won’t work, other than that, it may need to be re-coded by a dealer.

MemberHi, thanks for replying the central locking has stopped working so the drivers door only unlocks as if the battery is flat, but the alarm stays turned on so you open the door the alarm goes off and nothing works to turn it off. One day the centrall locking works the next it doesnt. I had over come the problem by double locking the car so that turns the alarm off, then if the central locking doesnt work i can still unlock drivers door only and alarm doesnt go off.

MemberDo the doors unlock when you press the unlock button in the car on the drivers door? Is a bit weird this.

MemberHi, yes just tried that and all doors work fine from the button inside and the alarm stays on. I think my neighbours are starting to get fed up with the noise lol.

MemberI currently have the same issue as you, new batteries die within hours.
If you turn the ignitionon once unlocking the car, the alarm doesn’t go off. Alternatively there is a button by the drivers door next to the seat for the alarm.

MemberHi all, surely there must be some way of dis-arming the alarm so as that I could drive it to main dealer rather than them collecting it with a breakdown truck and me giving away all my hard earnt dosh. if not where is the horn so as i can pull the wire off, I can start the car but how far could i drive it with the alarm going off. cheers guys for your advice

MemberThe button ToRo is talking about turns off the motion sensors inside the car for when you lock the car, say if you left a dog or person in the car. The horn is in one of the front wheel arches behind the plastic trim, I think the passenger side. Have you had the alarm going off and listened so you can identify where it is?

MemberHi had my head under bonnet listening and it sounded like on drivers side somewhere at rear of engine. i’ll have a listen from wheel arches see which side for sure, thanks. Am I right in assuming that the immobilizer is completely seperate and works off the key in the ignition so if the correct coded key is in ignition I can drive it?
May 5, 2010 at 4:53 pm #4257Seat Adam
Memberyeah the immobilizer works from the key. There is a light on the dash which goes off when the ignition is switched on if it is correctly coded. Is a pic of a key with a sqiggly line through it.

MemberJust had one last try and got the central locking to work for no apparent reason and then stopped straight away, but this time all doors were locked and alarm turned off. So unlocked drivers door without central locking working and stripped door panel so as to disconnect the wiring plug off door lock. Now i can unlock door manually then if needed i can unlock all doors by pressing the button by door handle and reverse when finished. that do for me so cancelled trip to main dealer and spend the money on something better thanks for all your help and advice.

MemberI had a quick look in a Haynes manual I have for the Mk4 Golf and that is roughly the same car. They have a control unit for the central locking/alarm system under the steering column. It says in there that if there is a fault with the system, a main dealer can run diagnostics to see what faults flag up.

MemberI know this is an old post but for future readers as i’m sure the original problem has been sorted but if you change the battery in your remote you have to re-code it again, possible. I say possible as i know of a mate that didn’t have to do a thing, but in my case i had to re-code thr fob to make it work again. SEAT will charge you about £70 quid for this but you can do it yourself there are about 3 different methods to try. I will try to find the methods buried on me puter somewhere and post them.
Going back to the original problem, maybe i’m misunderstanding something here but if i manually unlock my car it turns off the alarm and the car can start but then i do have the original keys with the sensor in which the car needs by the ignition to start car.

MemberHi Cupra man, I still got the same problems I got the original keys for the car but manually turning the key in the door unlocked the car and left the alarm turned on. The key lock gave up and just spun in the door so not been able to lock the car for months. Problem was over christmas the battery went flat so recharged and guess what the alarm turned itself on again.
I have purchased a 2nd hand door lock and key repair kit so now I can unlock the door with the key and it works the central locking and turns the alarm off. (Going well so far). If I lock the door with the key it manually locks the drivers door and leaves the rest unlocked and the alarm off, BUT if i hold the key in the unlock position it unlocks all doors then opens all the windows as it should, but then locks the rear doors and passenger door and turns the alarm on again what use is the alarm on with all the windows open.
I give up now but money’s to tight to go to the main dealer with it, at the end of the day its become the work car only..September 9, 2013 at 2:04 am #6605GabMay
