Ok, so on Thursday I didn’t go to work because of the snow so thought it to be a good idea to remove my Green Cotton panel filter and clean it. I was supposed to do it back in the summer but counldn’t be bothered. Anyway, I took it out, held it up to the light of the sky and couldn’t see daylight through it! No wonder the car has been a little smokey lately. Had my cleaning kit ready. First tried brushing it to remove the big stuff like the instructions say, ended up having to hoover it as brushing didn’t remove that much. Then cleaned it with the cleaner (probably used more than was actually needed!), rinsed it and let it dry. Re-oiled it and fitted back in the car. Only as I did this did I realise that this air filter lets the turbo spool up a little quicker when it’s clean than a standard or dirty filter, and in these icy conditions, was probably not the best time to do it. Oh well, it’s done now. Even faster boosting during wheelspin on ice.

Yeah I got a Green Cotton panel filter. Brought it from JKM Motorservices near Portsmouth. Cost about £47, had to buy a cleaning kit also, but that’s not an issue.

Yeah, when I first changed to my panel filter, my paper one was black! Full of bugs and stuff too.
