hi all, new to seats and the forum, looking for some advice.

had to get a car on a budget recently cos of my job, eventually found a nice wee 2001 Y plate leon 1.4 in silver, with tinted rear windows and black alloys. bodywork and paintwork were mint, and got it at a fair price so i’m quite happy with it.

    however……….

    couple of wee gripes.

the washer’s weren’t washing, but after reconnecting the pipes, started washing. but, the rear wiper wasn’t moving. upon investigation, it turned out the fuse had been removed. when i replaced it, the rear wiper stayed on permanently, so a previous owner has known about this and just pulled the fuse out. living in scotland, i get a fair share of rain, so i’d like this fixed, any suggestions??

and today, on my way to work, the indicator started sounding for no reason at all. there are no lights flashing when it does this, and none of the bulbs are out, it just makes the clicking sound quite rapidly, think it’s something to do with the left side, as that’s when it seems to be happeining most, but i’m at a loss. again, any suggestions?

one last thing, looking for a stereo, second hand will do, preferably a cd player head unit and with an aux in if possible. the car’s got an audi chorus head unit in it just now, but it’s coded, and i don’t see the point of paying to unlock it just for the sake of using a tape deck, so if anyone’s got a decent unit going at a reasonable price, hit me up!

right, that’s me done. expect more noob questions in the coming months…………………

    cheers

    Hi there.

I can tell you the fault for the indicator clicking, common problem, mine did it not that long ago. The clicking is coming from the relay in the hazard light switch. I changed mine and it cured it for all of two days. The actual fault is the indicator stalk. Obviously dealer will tell you you need a new stalk, so steering wheel off, remove surround and replace stalk, me, I got some electrical contact cleaner spray (SOB from RS) and sprayed the switch on the steering column. Relay went nuts for about ten seconds and has been fine since. Baasically the switches in the stalk get dust build up on them causing the switch to stick keeping a current on the switch. What I couldn’t work out is why the lights don’t flash when it happens.
The rear wiper could be the same fault, or it could be the relay.

    Hope that helps
