Not sure if anyone else has come across this problem or not? I have a 20vt cupra that seems to hold onto its revs when changing gears during hard acceleration. I did not experience this problem when I first got the car but to be honest was still getting used to it so was not putting my foot down so much. The problem is not severe, but I prefer the revs to drop as soon as I take my foot off of the pedal and not continue going for 1/4 – 1/2 seconds afterwards.

I believe the only modification to the car is a Forge DV (Model Unknown) which never seems to make any noise whatsoever. The car has also had a recent new Turbo according to the dealer that I recently bought it from. I’m not sure if the mapping is standard (still trying to work out what vag com cable I need for this car).

I don’t know if there is any truth in it but I’d heard the ECU held the revs up during gear changes when booting it

never heard of it holding the revs up?!?

The vag com cable you need should be an OBD II, have a look next to the fuse box, you should see a purple plug maybe 1 / 1.5 inches long, if so then its the standard one!

Pretty sure its a clutch switch needed to solve this mate, its a blue switch located just above the clutch pedal that release when clutch is pressed. happened to me so i changed it recently, and now revs drop instantly when clutch is pressed. hope this helps
