    Hi there,
Just bought a 2007, 138 bhp 2 litre diesel Leon and can’t believe the poor MPG i’m having. I’m after your advice as I have a have a friend with an identical car who gets far more MPG and as much as I keep complaining to the dealer about it they are being most unhelpful.

The most I have managed to get MPG wise on the trip counter is 44, and that includes motorway use. I recently put in £45 worth of fuel and it only covered 250 miles, mostly out of town driving. I have even been driving it like “miss Daisy” and still can’t get the MPG to improve.
Is anyone else having this problem or do you have any possible answers as to what the problem may be???

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine gets a lot better mpg when using cruise control if on motorway, 6th gear 70mph and I’m gettin 60’s. Maybe try that?

Alas I don’t have cruise control, and even in 6th gear on the motorway can only dream of getting 60 mpg!!

I also worked out my MPG against the fuel /mileage that I recently did and it only equated to 34mpg mpg, even worse than I thought, Any other ideas anyone???

A few things you could try

    1.When was it last serviced?
    2. EGR Valve could be blocked, get it cleaned out or remove it completely
3.Try using 5th gear on motorway instead of 6th, My old Leon FR 2.0TDI PD170 5th was better
