Hey everyone, I’ve been subscribed to the forum for a bit but just for looking about and seeing about certain topics but never posted before as I ain’t no expert on cars in general.
My seat Leon mk2 tfsi sport (2005) broke down the other week with epc light showing, so cut the story short had it to my mates garage and the head is knackered.
“The cam timing chain on the gearbox side has stretched and snapped. Looks as if a tensioner or guide has failed and caused the chain to go. In the process it’s fucked the teeth on both cams that the chain runs on and there’s bits of plastic and metal all over the place. Obviously with it stopping one cam rotating I think it’s most likely done the valves in on that particular cam line aswell”
Quoted from my mate when I asked to explain as I’m working away.
Basically I need engine inspected and rebuilt, just after a few recommendations of anywhere to get it rebuild properly, money ain’t a issue, and whether anyone has had this issue, I read that a lot of these engines have the problem but normally on startup since pressure ain’t there but I was driving so ain’t sure what’s happened, very recently had timing belt changed and really kept on top of maintanence.
Thanks for your time,
Cal
