Is this a silly question, what is an iat sensor? I may know or find out if I knew what iat stood for.

    Intake Air Temperature sensor

So surely it will be around the intake somewhere?

Considering it won’t have a turbo so no boost pipes, probably somewhere between the air filter and throttle butterfly. Looking at a section of pipe about 2 feet long max. Most likely part of the MAF knowing how mordern cars are.

Will most likely be incorporated with the MAF

Looking at a Haynes manual for the Golf, there may be a sensor in a flap valve mounted in the air cleaner inlet trunking or in the air cleaner lid. Also could be part of the air mass meter and therefore cannot be changed seperately, or could be fitted to the right hand side of the inlet manifold ( as sat in drivers seat).
    Hopefully that’ll help.

It should be in the inlet manifold after the throttle bodie. well it is in mine and was easy to remove and clean.
