    Seat say that I need a new inlet manifold for my 57 Leon FR 170 tdi. (engine code BMN)

    The technician said it was under powered in 5th and 6th gear, does not seem to be though.

    The report reads “inlet manifold flap seal failed, checked actuator, found diaphragm has failed, not holding vacuum, advise new manifold”

    Seat want £800 to replace, my local garage want £620.

    I have found second hand parts for as little as £100, the part number is 03G129711AS, but has previously been the same code with either AP or AF on the end instead of AS.

    Anyone know of a good second hand parts supplier? :confused:

    Firstly what i would do is speak to Dave @ SERE motors

    explain to him that i have sent you (Andrew Barratt) and ask him if he can check the 3 part numbers you have got to see which one is the most recent (they do updates all the time), also ask him for a price for a new one :good:

    Once you have done that then source the part itself, scour forums such as MK5 Golf GTI forums for people breaking cars and look on ebay etc

    A friend of mine recently fitted a Metal Manifold off a PD140 onto his Heavily modified PD170
