MemberOkay so I’m expecting a new Seat Leon 1.4 Sport (2010 model). I find out from a remapping centre that I can get the car remapped to give an increase of +22 bhp and 52nm torque – for five hundred quid. Do you think this is a good result? Worth doing?
I wonder really if the car is worth doing because the bigger, more powerful engines like the 20V turbos seem to gain maybe 40 or more bhp with such a remap. At £500 I think this needs to be a decent enough change in performance to make it worthwhile. The 1.4 TSI engine was never going to break records but that’s what my finances can fund at the moment and I would be interested if people thought the +22bhp was worth £500.

MemberI wouldn’t say it was worth it tbh mate, not for that money!
You could get a nice exhaust/engine setup for around that sorta money

MemberIs there a better way to squeeze out some power that really talks then? I feel a bit let down at the moment 🙁

ParticipantI’ll be test driving one of these in October so i’ll get a feel of what these are like. When are you expecting yours egghead?
I’d say you could probably push a bit more than 22bhp from it. Try giving Simon at Ecotech Performance a call on 07814976624. He’s a top bloke, met him at a couple of car shows and he sponsors our sister club, Ibiza Owners Club. He’ll be able to tell you what you can get from it…

MemberExpecting end sept/oct. Popular car?
Anyway, thanks for the tip.I’ll be looking around for some improvements and will post back results if and when…September 23, 2009 at 9:40 pm #3768T. Spark
MemberWhich performance centre is quoting £500 for what sounds like a generic remap!? shocking!
The older 1.8T’s dont get 40bhp realstic from JUST a remap, and the even older version would be lucky to get 22bhp!
Id say look at it the other way round, the % increase in bhp is good! but its the increase in NM of torque that will make the car faster in the real world.
Id look at some other companies than could offer it cheaper, but make sure they are cheap without service/results and alike, you spend so much on a car, its a shame when people go to the cheapest person/one man band for a remap to save £50!

MemberWelcome to the site mate!
I would suggest getting all engine modifcations you want done before remap, like air filter/induction kit, exhaust.
I personally am looking at the full miltek stainless non-resonated exhaust system and an enclosed induction kit.
The best prices I have found are here:
http://www.regals-motorsport.co.uk/bmc-cda-induction-kit-seat-leon-mk1-18-t-20v-180-hp-p-4973.html
http://www.jkm.org.uk/performance/milltekseat.htm
But it all depends on personal preferance, like what you want out of the car in the long run etc.

MemberSeeming you have a 140 diesel, I suggest getting a green cotton panel filter as an induction kit won’t do much for it, smooth out the air box, get a stainless Milltek exhaust, turbo or cat back, your choice, then get a remap along with the clutch (if it’s a manual) as that’ll soon wear out. Someone like AMD in Essex are really good for this or REVO. Best bet is to look on their sites for power increases. Any more power after a stage 1 remap and you’re looking at a lot of money, hybrid turbo, stage 3 remap and more, the list goes on. All I would say is if you do get a remap, uprate the brakes to as you got to stop the spec’d up motor.
