I thought I’d miss the power but the 1.4 is still lively enough for me now (family man). The TSI pulls nicely at the lower revs compared to other petrols I’ve driven and it really comes to life between 3750 – 6000 RPM when I’m on my own on the country roads lol.

I’m also getting better mpg now than I was last month. I’ve averaged just over 40 mpg on several drives over 100miles now (when I’ve got my little one in the back & I’m not having fun). I’ve tried different driving styles to improve mpg & the TSI seems to perform best when you get up to speed quite quickly (2/3 power) and drop straight into cruise rather than accelerating slowly and not cruising for as long. I use Cruise Control everywhere, especially 30 zones.

Bit of Fun on the other hand = 20mpg*

Saving me money? Having a 2 year old is costing me nearly £700 a month in nursery fees and then I have to pay to clothe & feed him on top of that lol …Kids are not cheap! Almost a second mortgage! But they have their perks too i suppose :unsure:

What tyres do you have on atm? Are they soft compount rubber? I got over 20k miles out of the tyres on my old Cupra so was hoping to top 30k miles with the 1.4.

Is tyre wear even or just outer edge? Have you rotated your tyres?

To get more even tyre wear you can rotate which corner each tyre is on.

If you are only going to do it once per set of tyres then just swap them diagonally (front right moves to back left & vice-versa)
when the fronts are about 2/3rds worn or if you are suffering from outer edge tyre wear.

Whilst you will spread the wear of your tyres and should get more life out of them the downside is that it will likely result in you having to replace all four tyres at the same time.
