hi all picked up an 05 fr tdi last week and just wondering about ecu remapping. ive heard that there arent many problems with chipping the 130 engine but apparently there could be problems when doing the 150 and since this is the one i have would just like some info and best prices if possible. cheers

There aren’t any problems. As with the map, would it be stage 1? Best way to do it is get a cotton panel filter, a nice exhaust, either cat back or turbo back, get the clutch uprated as a diesel will destroy a standard clutch within a month of a map, then get the map. I’m hoping to get mine done, already have the filter, need to get the clutch done next as mine is slipping as standard car, then get a Milltek stainless cat back, then finally off to Amd in Essex for a custom map and rolling road run. I know the clutch is going to set you back some notes, a Sachs organic one with lightened flywheel will set you back around £1300, an exhaust, cat back is around £450, map around £200. So the cheapest thing is the panel filter at around £40. Hope that helps.

Yeah I think it’s a penny saving exercise. Any stage 1 map should get you to see figures of 190ish bhp, with around 285lb/ft torque. Doesn’t sound great but it will have the pull of a standard mk1 LCR. That’s where the clutch gets done! A Sachs clutch is rated to 400lb/ft so easily takes stage 1 and 2.
