MemberAfter spending about 5 hours cleaning my car today, as I drove it off the grass out the front of the house, went down a kerb and caught the drivers side skirt, pushed it back nearly 10mm and broke it! :bash:
Not to worry though, am going to take them both off tomorrow, that’s if it doesn’t rain all day or i’ll still be taking them off, just get wet in the process. I’m going to clean the sills as mud will be there from the side skirts and have a proper look at the damage. Took it to my mate, ex Seat body guy, he reckons we’ll be able to glue it to fix. All depending on the damage to the brackets. If not, already checked for breaking ones on Ebay, couple on there.November 29, 2009 at 10:46 am #3959Seat Adam
MemberSkirt is off now! Now that’s a way to start a reply!
Actually have taken both off as it would look odd with one fitted. Seems the only damage is to the front corner of the drivers one as it has cracked about 40mm on the bend. Should be able to repair it. The rear most drivers side plastic bracket has opened up slightly so it no longer holds the sill so may need a new one. Also the rear wheel arch plastic inside cover has broken where the skirt screws to it so may need to find a way to sort that.
Whilst the skirts are off i’m going to clan the sills which aren’t actually that dirty, but might as well do them.
Will be cleaning the skirts today and preping ready for repair, there is quite a bit of mud and dirt on the inside of them, mainly where the jacking point covers are. Noticed there is a lot of dirt behind the wheel arch cover where it is broken so will try and clean tis out also.November 30, 2009 at 5:42 pm #3964ToRo
MemberSomeone’s been a busy boy!
Hope it’s an easy and cheap fix mate! This time of year it doesn’t help to have things break!

MemberNow glue’d the skirt, did it about 2 weeks ago, just haven’t fitted them back on. I’m still needing some black silicone to fill the small crack mark left, just to stop dirt working its way into the glue. I’ll be borrowing some of that from work then. I have put some liquid metal behind the repair too to give it a bit of extra strength.
All that’ll be left to do is to T-cut the skirts and polish them up ready for re-fittment, probably in the New Year once i’ve cleaned the car again, otherwise it’ll look quite weird with polished clean side skirts and a filthy car!December 20, 2009 at 8:02 pm #4054ToRo
MemberMy car is dirty as I wish my partner was! But I am not cleaning it in this weather! No siree!

MemberGot round to fitting my skirts back on yesterday. Luckily the car was cleaned as I had it serviced on Thursday and the gave it a quick wash. At last it looks like a Cupra again, not just a standard Leon with plastic clips down the sides.
