Hello Im a potential new owner of a Seat Leon, I would appreciate your advice, as your the best people to give it.

The girlfriend is looking to change her 2011 Mini Cooper S because of fuel costs, tax & more so the insurance, which has just shot up by £800 :shocking:

The only car that she likes the look of is the Seat Lean, hence why im here 🙂 So we are thinking of the FR 1.4 TSI 2010-2012 as its not to slow & not to thirsty on fuel & the insurance is £1200 cheaper 😀

Is there any things we need to bear in mine when looking & when buying i.e

– Factory options to have?
– Factory options not to have?
– Potential problems they have?
– What to look out for?

……………….you get my drift, please add anything you think we need to know.

Or should we look at a different engine?

What type of driving does she do? long or short trips

If i was you i would look at the TDI’s, although some of them have lower BHP its about the torque.

Ive currently got a Stage2+ 2.0TFSI which is around 360-380bhp but it delivers the torque very smoothly , its very fast but smooth. My previous 2.0TDI 228bhp felt alot more grunty because the torque was delivered as big punches.

If you go for the TDI then you will get the MPG on top, lower tax and more than likely lower insurance

It for short journeys mainly to work 2-3 miles so a diesel is out of the question & torque isnt needed, i have a 220bhp 443.2Nm torque BMW 120d so i know all about diesed 🙂 which we use for long journeys.

Thats a pretty good out put from your old 2.0 TDI

We was thinking the FR 1.4 TSI be a good mild of the road, not to much of a drop from the Coopers S.

Still got to go test drive one to see how it drives.

Yeh i would test drive it see how it feels, im not sure on the MPG from the 1.4 suppose it depends on how its driven aswell

Most of the time nice & steady but likes to put a foot down when needed like over taking, hopefully its not to slow, which i doubt it is.

I have a seat leon 1.4 tsi and it goes like a rocket amazing power and fun to drive, just make sure there are no little rattles on start up as the tsi does tend to have timing chain issues. My leon has rattle on start up going in to be done under warranty, I really like the car and hopefully start up rattle will be sorted. You would not be disapointed with the 1.4 tsi ……..

Timing chain issues 😯

Thats a major issue with the BMW diesels 2007-2009 didnt think you would have a timing chain on a little petrol engine.

But thanks i’ll keep a ear out for that.

As for a remap, i would be up for that but the mrs wouldnt be 🙁
