A basic remap (otherwise known as a stage 1 map) will be fine for the standard clutch. Granted, any modifications to boost the power output of any engine will, in time, decrease it’s life span but remaps such as stage 1 or even stage 2 won’t make a big difference in it’s life cycle.

The power gains are awesome and really show you what the turbo can do. You feel a harder surge of power through the rev range that’s for sure. Tuners like Ecotech Performance will actually provide you gains of a little more mpg too. 210bhp is quite achievable really without any extra modifications.

As a rule of thumb, stage 1 can be done with mods.
Stage 2 remaps usually require a performance air filter/induction kit, 4bar fpr (fuel pressure regulator), better intercooler and a cat-back or full performance exhaust system.

Stage 3, well…we’ll cross that bridge later 😉

Hi mate there are many mappers to choose from but I have used revo on all 3 of my leons in the past and honestly you won’t be disappointed… you will instantly notice a big power gain and it will make you smile every time you squeeze the go pedal!!! The reason I went for revo is because I bought an sps unit ( serial port switch) which is basically a little gadget you plug in to change the map settings or even switch it off back to standard when you take it for services etc…

As for clutch both my petrol leons were fine but my tdi lasted a week. Some people have no problems others do I guess if the previous owner was a clutch rider you could have issues but like I say both my petrols were fine! My tdi now has a sachs clutch kit and is ok!!!

So lots to choose from but which ever you go with it will transform you car 🙂 I think revo is one of the most aggressive whereas others bring the power on smoothly depends what you fancy. If you want to know anymore feel free to drop me a msg!!!

Hi if it’s any help I’ve had a stage 1 and a stage 2 done to my Cupra, and yes the stage 1 deffinately improves the performance no end. The stage 1 done by Custom Code took it from the standard 180BHP to about 210BHP, only engine mod I had at the same time was a forge DV and a green air filter. The stage 2 was done last year by AMD tech (Woking,Surrey), I had a Milltek full system exhaust fitted and they recomended an uprated fuel boost valve (Which was only a few quid). The stage 2 took it to approx 235BHP, they could have tweeked it more but they kept it down a bit to be a little more conservative on the fuel comsumption.

Never had a new clutch, gearbox is sweet as a nut although I did trash the RH drive shaft last year and had to have a new set of them babies fitted, but then my Cupra has just clicked past the 156k point and I do drive it like I stole it, hence the £360 speeding fine I got last year (85 on a 70, tried to contest it that why it was so high, should have paid the fixed £60 will I never learn).

Back to the original question, the re-mapping is best bang for bucks so worth it deffinately on stage 1, not so on stage 2 though I did notice a little difference but nothing to write home about, it was mainly to smooth out the new Miltek and give it better responce due to the Miltek, wasnt cheap if you consider the cost of the Miltek as well but it had to be done.

These engines are strong 84k is nothing really – play away mate! you wont regret it – As I mentioned with the Revo remap a Revo dealer can load a test map for you completely FREE that lasts about 8 hours so you can try before you buy…. and I guarentee once it switches off you will go back and buy it :o)
