MemberHi there I have a 138bhp leon mapped to about 210, the problem im having is when the car gets warm and ive been driving it for about 40+ minutes the engine starts to make a strange noise. Its like a belt is rubbing, or like a fan noise. It whirs as if air is been blown through a blade maybe but its not that consistant. As you accelerate the noise increases with it and continues at a set speed, when you drop the clutch it continues at idle but occasionally cuts in and out. I thought it was power steering pressure pump or similar but it cant be. The longer the cars runs the worse the noise gets, after 90mins or more it starts to sound like the engine is all vibrating. The cars performance is normal it pulls like stink, the noise comes from around the drives front wheel area on the car. Not taken it to a dealer as would have to get the car warm making the noise and get it straight up on ramps running bit of an arse really. I just want the car to sound healthy on a long run!!! Thanks, Adam

Memberits got a pipercross carbon vis kit on it £360 and a celtic tuning fast road map created for me last february to suit the air filter. I have it stored on my Emotion tuning module so if anyone wants there pd140 mapping I can do it takes about 20mins! just would need an uprated air filter wether a induction kit or just uprated square box filter. carbon tube gets a nice whistle and dump from it at right revs. its pretty quick and i can get 57mpg easily 🙂

ModeratorHave you had it RR’d? because PD170’s with custom maps only make 200-205bhp
Hybrid turbo’d PD140’s are 220-240 so you would definitely need at least a stage 2 kit to make claimed figures

Memberits not got hybrid turbo or upgraded injectors on it, hybrid turbos unreliable and dont live as long. send a private email to celtic tuning asking for them to make you a specific map, you can ask for more torque, power or foe economy. they will write you a custom specific map to suit for air filter and any other mods you have. if you want 300bhp at fly its possible on the pd140 still within safe tolerances apart from heavy clutch starts!! very strong parts on the pd engine range they are so de-tuned its unreal I heard of well lane turbo centre tuning standard pd’s to 450bhp at fly with only an upgraded air filter! feel sorry for the clutch and drive shaft!! my car does o-62 in 7 dead and over 140mph now! and i got 83mpg tonight too 🙂 so forgiving and will pull in any gear. pulls like hell from 1200 rpm all way to about 4300, no need to take it past 3200 if over taking though all power if low down no need for bhp just the torques :-). if you want my map on a pd140 i can arrange for you to come see me and I can do it for a small cost. adam

ModeratorMate, Be serious there is no way you can get 210bhp out of a 140 engine with just remap, No matter how good the claimed map is. Without supporting mods ie Exhaust, EGR Delete etc you wont see anywhere near 200. Ive had 2 of my cars mapped now and as Admin of this forum and TDISport who are a diesel forum i can gurantee you wont find anybody else who is claiming 200bhp without supporting Mod’S. i Can count maybe 10 members on TDISport with PD140’s and all of them have supporting mod’s
Now im guessing you havent had yours RR’d yet but the claimed figures provided to you will me miles off and you will be quite dissapointed.
Just spoke to Celtic there claimed figures are 188bhp so not sure where the 210 has come from?

Memberit was mapped last feb 2010 on the old pd140 not the new cr engine model. you dont have to believe me im not bragging just saying its nice to play with. celtic quoted 203bhp on standard air filter when i got mine mapped. here is the blurb off their website if you want to read it. its quick enough for me for a dirty derv.
The 2.0 TDi engine supersedes the early 1.9 unit to take power and refinement to the next level. Using VW’s highly acclaimed PD injection system and the latest EDC16 ECU controllers, the stock outputs on these are impressive even as standard. With 2025 bar injection pressure these engines produce high torque at low loads and enable great gains to be had from tuning. The 138bhp (140PS) variant easily achieves 188bhp with little effort, for those wishing to achieve more we have the knowledge and skills to take these to the 300bhp figure.
We develop all of our software on the rolling road to ensure accuracy in terms of both power delivery and also to ensure fuelling, boost pressures and exhaust gas temperatures are all within tolerance. Our aim is for maximum power whilst maintaining optimum reliability.

Memberon another forum, a friend of mine had a 150bhp peugeot 306 no one beleived him, and we ended up making a bet with members on the forum, the bet was to get it Rolling roaded and if it made over 140 another fella on forum would pay for the rolling road. so we took it to a hubdyno at torquetronix (the tuner who did the work with a dyno that was famed for being one of the most accurate) and it made the grade, and the forum still didnt beleive, so we then took it to another rolling road, and it made 142, on the way home we stopped off at one of the forum members house to collect, he paid for the run lol
maybe we should do a similar thing here if everyone agreed? (purely for the banter)

If you can get the car to 200bhp it is definately not with the remap alone and like Andrew said you are defo going to need all the other components to get it pushing out 200BHP+
I have went onto the Celtic Tuning website and had a look at a remap for My Leon TDI FR (167bhp) For a remap on that its offering 211bhp…. and you car has 30 bhp less to start with…..September 11, 2011 at 9:03 pm #5033AndrewJB
