ok so im looking at buying a leon 20v turbo, they are 180bhp standard?
So what could i get out of it with a few mods, i dont want to push it to it limits but ive heard 200bhp can be acheived relativley easily on these?

It all depends on if its DBW or not to power out put with a simple remap, but 200-220bhp with a remap depending this is normal.

I know of one running 226bhp with just a remap as far as I know. Simple power upgrade that should be worth its money.

As T said, a remap is the easiest way to get a bit more oomph out of it 🙂

I’m planning on getting a full miltek exhaust system and remapping the engine. Possibly a bigger turbo, depending on funds 🙂

hey guys, im hopefully picking up my new leon on saturday, will post pics if i do!
Its a 2001, 20v turbo. Its currently completley standard, only thing im wanting to do with it is a remap, now ive looked at a couple of places, the best one ive found is MoreBhp.com who offer the remap for £200 and claim to get 215bhp from my standard 180bhp.
Is there anything i should be aware of when remapping as ive been told it can lead to running problems down the line and i dont want to risk having any problems?
Any advice would be helpful 8)

Generally, you should be ok with a basic remap. The 20vt engine is pretty strong up to a certain point but 215bhp wont cause you any problems.
I would suggest possibly looking around a bit more as that figure seems a little low to me. I once got 193bhp from a 150bhp 20vt engine on a remap alone and it run perfectly. Have you had a look at Awesome GTI or AMDEssex? The guys and girls there know they’re VAG stuff and offer a great service.

Something like a remap, you’ll want to get your money’s worth

    Cheap doesnt always = good.

£200 is very cheap, furthermore you need to find out if yours is DBW or not, as that depends if you will struggle to get 200bhp, or 220bhp+
