Participantlegally, you can go to an independent provided that they used approved parts to replace anything. So oils, oil/air filters, plugs, brake pads etc – consumables.
it’s possible you might lose entitlement to other features such as free breakdown.
you also wouldn;t get software updtaes, or other stuff like rattle fixes that seat instruct dealers to do when servicing.
it there’s a fault, obviously Seat are the only people who won’t charge you to fix it…
I’m not brave enough to try.andrewpain
Participantalor blue is quite striking, and not very common. Dark red is MUCH better than bright…..

Participantboth are good, but quite a few people with white end up wrapping the roof for some contrast.
personally I just prefer the black anyway.
they’re both going to show the dirt!andrewpain
ParticipantHi!
I’d advise thinking about the 2.0 150 TDi if at all possible.
the 105 in the 1.6 is a good engine, with a nice spread of torque, but the 150 HP version is much more driveable, and frankly virtually the same for consumption in the real world, where you can use the extra power and torque to avoid the higher revs that eat into the 1.6 consumption.
honestly – the running costs are almost the same (I don’t know about your insurance, obviously).
Have you driven both yet? Worth trying them side by side…..
there are also some good deals on demo and pre-reg cars already in dealers, and they can also access cars from seat as well as their own stock…
good luck anyway, and welcome:-)

Participantgood luck – any preference as to Mk1,2 or 3? engine?

Participantfor a standard 2.0 TDi you could do a lot worse than a DTUK tuning box.
look them up, enter your car details, and see what they’ve got. probably get 30-40% more power and torque for around £400.
Puts a smile on your face!andrewpain
ParticipantHI:-)
got a lot of car for your money….enjoy it.andrewpain
Participantnoticed the difference?
more room, less grunt?andrewpain
Participantdid you sell them?
there’s a guy on seatcupra website looking for some for a Mk3…andrewpain
ParticipantI bet you were impressed, too…:-)
amazing it hasn’t rusted away.
but it was reliable and spacious, if a bit vague to steer and not that quick.andrewpain
ParticipantGaydon sounds good:-)
did you spot our old white Lada Riva at Stondon yesterday, Kev?andrewpain
Participantthought it was. Thanks Andrew. Guess it’s eBay then.
And my daughter wants to get VW GTI ones, so sorry, Pete – good luck anyway:-)

Participantmy accelerator pedal isn’t that big, so maybe they changed it with the Mk3.
but my daughter’s Mk5 golf gt, however…I won’t see her till Monday, but if she’s interested and you still have them, we’ll see.
are they actually badged FR, or just black/shiny?
could always send a pic if you like – 07875 580069, or andrewgpain@hotmail.comandrewpain
ParticipantHi Pete. bugger about the car…:-(
I’ve got a manual Mk3 and could fancy the metal pedals – was your Mk2 a manual or DSG?
and then I’ll try to find out if they fit!
andrewandrewpain
Participantwhen you’re there, Kevin, look out for a white Lada Riva, E850YKP.
used to be my dad’s, then my wife’s! -
