MemberI know what you mean, I’m the same. Work as a mechanic, only big stuff gets paid for. What oil are you putting in it? Just asking as the ideal stuff is the 5w 40 PD oil. Quieten downs the hydraulic tappets on start up a treat. The wrong oil and you can get problems with the cam shaft. Not as common now but can still happen.
The loom goes up toward the control module, if you don’t want to change it, try some electrical contact cleaner on the glow plug connectors, might help cure it.Seat Adam
MemberThey may have changed the glow plugs but the problem could be in the wiring loom. The inside of the connectors corrode and make a poor contact, causing resistance and bringing the EML on. I had to change mine when I had the same fault code. Not a hard job to do, just annoying. took me about 2 hrs, including changing the glow plugs. Battery out, air filter out, follow loom, unwrap it, pull off stupid plastic bit on bulkhead, almost break it, replace loom, wind it back up again with insulation tape, re-attach plastic bit, refit air filter and battery, recode radio and front windows. Remove fault code. Job done. I think the loom is about £35ish from dealer. Mind you, did mine around 2 years ago. Common fault.
Other than that, they all smoke. Mine is now on 132K. Other than that, have you got any loose boost pipes?

MemberIt may be held on by a couple of screws under round covers. Usually about three of them.

MemberYeah I think it’s a penny saving exercise. Any stage 1 map should get you to see figures of 190ish bhp, with around 285lb/ft torque. Doesn’t sound great but it will have the pull of a standard mk1 LCR. That’s where the clutch gets done! A Sachs clutch is rated to 400lb/ft so easily takes stage 1 and 2.

MemberThere aren’t any problems. As with the map, would it be stage 1? Best way to do it is get a cotton panel filter, a nice exhaust, either cat back or turbo back, get the clutch uprated as a diesel will destroy a standard clutch within a month of a map, then get the map. I’m hoping to get mine done, already have the filter, need to get the clutch done next as mine is slipping as standard car, then get a Milltek stainless cat back, then finally off to Amd in Essex for a custom map and rolling road run. I know the clutch is going to set you back some notes, a Sachs organic one with lightened flywheel will set you back around £1300, an exhaust, cat back is around £450, map around £200. So the cheapest thing is the panel filter at around £40. Hope that helps.

MemberShould have got a diesel! My tax is £125 for the year!!!!!
Either that, buy a Toyota Aygo. Mrs has got one and that’s all the expense of …………… ready……………..£20!! Really, £20!
Got my MOT done on Friday. PASSED! One advisory, oil leak, most likely a boost pipe, nothing major.

MemberWheel could be buckled. I had that on my Cupra TDI. Noticeable around 70mph. Some wheel refurb places can take them out.
Wheel weights may have knocked off. Get the wheels balanced. Also a good way to see if there is a buckle.Hope that helps.

MemberThere could be some air left in the system, just compessing in the system somewhere. I take it there are no leaks. Also, what were the bleed nipples like to remove and replace? When I did mine, the rear calliper nipples were a bit suspect to do back up and needed extra tightening. Really should change them as they’re in the boot of my car.

MemberAnother one on Falken FK452’s here. Around £80 on each corner still. I have found they wear well and grip well too, don’t loose grip in the wet either.

MemberBankruptcy. Stage 3 is big turbos, even go as far as new engine internals.
In my opinion, any map would decrease the life of the clutch, depending on how you drive. I would have it changed to an uprated one even for stage 1. The map will give you more torque and then you wont need to use the throttle as hard to maintain the speed, hence saving fuel. My Mrs still won’t buy that excuse. For stage 1 also, I would change the air filter for a panel filter and get a ‘Cat Back’ exhaust.

MemberSpark plugs are tight enough aren’t they? Rocker cover seal leaking?
Seat Adam
MemberIs the sticker not in the fuel filler cover? Either that, got the owners manual. Not sure if all are the same, I’m guessing not as the Cupra is 2.2bar or 33psi.

MemberYeah, give the ariel a good tug and it should come off, Just hold on to the base when you do it so as not to not pull the base off. Also hold on to the car so you don’t fall off.
You can take the door card off and have a look at the wiring. Maybe the speaker given up. It’s not that hard to remove the door card. The speaker is then mounted in the metal carrier behind the door card. If you remove the carrier, silicone it back on or you’ll get a water leak.
Not sure but can you not carefully use a screwdriver and rag to get the center caps off.
